A happy stick figure waving at you, hand-drawn in black marker.

Hello, Websurfer!

Welcome to my little tangle* of the Web.

Me in 20 Seconds

I am an optimist, a curious cat, and a thinker. Sometimes, I’m surprisingly creative.

In the Who Cares Era, I care.

I make computers go brrr. I think like a designer (sometimes). I come up with lots of (bad) ideas.

I like HARD music and the warmth of film-grainy photos.

More about me.

Now (Huh?)

This is what I’m doing right now, from my “now page:”

  • I’ve put everything in life on pause to work on making private age verification on the Internet a reality.

Updates (via RSS)

  1. Parrot Takes Flight

Parrot is my first finished project that I am releasing out into the world. Here’s how I describe it:

Parrot is a web app for easily recording throwaway audio clips. It was originally intended for pronunciation practice but may find other uses. It’s fun, I promise!

I wanted to start with “something simple and fun” and got through 90% of it last summer. I got stuck on not knowing what to do for the screen. I couldn’t move on to the next project knowing that Parrot was so close to being finished, but not finished. About a month ago I got working on it again. “The last 10% it takes to launch something takes as much energy as the first 90%,” Rob Kalin once said. I found that to be true. But hey, now it’s finished.

I’m really happy with it. That I finished it and that it turned out as well as it did is already enough for me. That someone else might like it or find it useful is a pleasant bonus.

    Onward!

  2. This Website Goes Live With a New Design

I love how it turned out. The logo, the header navigation, the footer. The link decoration and link arrows. The colors. The little hand-drawn, human touches.

There’s not much to see yet, but there are a few things. The “Me in 20 Seconds” currently stands in for a full “about me” page. There’s an updated “now” page and a complete contact page. An RSS feed is also available.

You bet this site is under construction.
